Emap Cuts More Digital Staff

Emap Cuts More Digital Staff

Emap is integrating its digital ad sales division into its main advertising team and is cutting four jobs as a result.

The move will see the internet and SMS ad sales teams become part of the cross media advertising sales group, which handles advertising across Emap’s entire portfolio of interests from magazines to television programmes.

A spokeswomen for Emap confirmed that four jobs would go due to “a duplication of roles” and said that the company felt that it was appropriate to integrate the digital operations within the same team, because “the deals that are being done often cover more than just one field.”

Emap’s digital operations have suffered over the last year (see More Jobs To Go At Emap Digital) and Emap Digital has gone from being an independent company with £50m per year investment to being folded back into the magazine arm.

Earlier in the week Emap Performance Online signed a deal to provide entertainment and music content to Hutchison 3G which holds the UK’s largest third-generation mobile phone licence. The two year deal will see the company provide content from all of its music titles as well as from its lifestyle brands such as FHM (see Emap Signs 3G Content Deal With Hutchison).
