Chrysalis Launches Galaxy Spin-Off Magazine

The Chrysalis-owned Galaxy Network is to launch a new weekly consumer magazine, called Galaxy Out There.

The magazine, which is scheduled to launch in November 2002, will have an initial print run of 500,000 copies and will be distributed through Galaxy’s five regional transmission areas: South Wales and the West, Birmingham, Manchester and Yorkshire, as well as London by major retailers, including HMV. The magazine will also be distributed at universities in order to reach a youth audience of 15 to 34 year olds.

The new title, which represents the Network’s first foray into brand extension, will contain 48-pages of DJ profiles, music reviews, lifestyle features, club and concert listings, events and advertising.

Galaxy brand director, Nick Button, commented: “The Out There print title gives the Network a credible weekly presence around the UK. By creating this lifestyle title, we aim to give regional dance and R&B fans a more in-depth exposé into Galaxy lifestyle areas whilst bringing the brand to London for the very first time”.

Chrysalis Radio continues to outperform the radio sector and yesterday delivered positive guidance, expecting to deliver a 9.5% increase in revenues during the 12 months to August 2002. This is well above the 5% decline forecast for the UK radio sector as a whole (see Chrysalis Revenues 15%pt Stronger Than Radio Sector).
