Espotting Poaches Business Director From AltaVista

Search targeted marketing company, Espotting, has poached AltaVista’s Anne Lakstigala to become its European business development director.

In her new role, Lakstigala, who was responsible for strategy and commercial partnerships at AltaVista, will oversee the development of Espotting’s business into new areas and across multiple platforms in Europe.

Espotting’s COO, Jonathan Bunis, said: “Anne’s appointment is a further endorsement of our aim to deliver targeted leads through all types of distribution channels. It’s all about reaching the right people at the right time – whether that be through keyword search, directories, channels, email or wireless.”

Lakstigala brings both online and offline experience to her new role and prior to joining AltaVista she worked in affiliate sales and marketing at the Disney Channel/ABC Cable Networks. Before that she was business development director at online music company, Launch Media.

Espotting, which recently signed a three-year deal with Lycos (see Espotting Secures Pan-European Tie-In With Lycos), faces growing competition in the search targeted marketing sector. Earlier this week internet search engine, Google, launched a new cost-per-click advertising service called AdWords (see Google Enters Cost-Per-Click Market).
