Hachette Filipacchi Announces Editorial Shake-Up At Red

Hachette Filipacchi UK has announced that Vicki Harper has been appointed deputy editor of women’s lifestyle magazine, Red.

Harper will replace assistant editor, Andrea Childs, who had been covering the position of deputy editor since the departure of Hero Brown in August 2002.

Harper, has been features editor at Red for a year. She began her career as a features writer at the Daily Express and has also worked on the Mail on Sunday before pursuing a freelance career, contributing to publications such as You, The Evening Standard, and ELLE.

Commenting on her appointment, Trish Halpin, editor of Red, said: “Vicki stood out from the crowd, not only because of her intuitive understanding of the Red reader, but also her exciting ideas for taking the magazine forwards.”

In a separate appointment, Paul Browning will be joining Red as senior designer. He arrives at Hachette Filipacchi UK from Front magazine where he worked as senior designer, prior to which he worked as a designer at the Saturday Express magazine.

Earlier this year, Hachette Filipacchi appointed the Manchester based Pepper Group, to handle its regional advertisement sales business across its range of titles (see Hachette Appoints Pepper Group To Regional Sales Role).
