Emap Advertising Secures Major Nissan Promotional Deal

Emap and Nissan have teamed up in one of the biggest solus magazine deals. The six-figure campaign will promote the new Nissan 350z across a range of Emap’s men’s titles, including The Face and Arena.

Emap Advertising’s Men’s Creative solutions team joined forces with Manning Gottlieb OMD to create a campaign for the brand based around Japan’s cultural heritage. A 52-page guide to Japan will be given away with this month’s edition of Arena, which features Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai.

Editor of Arena Anthony Noguera said: “The growing influence of Japan’s pop culture, film, food, style and art is second only to that of America’s. Nissan understand the value of the company’s birthplace and are rightly celebrating it.”

Later this year The Face will launch a 24-page reverse magazine section dedicated to the cultural influence of Japan on British lifestyle, in association with Nissan, including an interview with Kill Bill star Chiaki Kuriyama. Arena will run a series of advertorials over several months promoting the brand, and a display campaign will run across Pop, Arena Homme Plus, Car and FHM.

The campaign represents a shift in marketing for Nissan, targeting the ‘black collar worker’. Brand marketing manager Yasmin Al-Jeboury said: “Using the 350z as the halo brand, we are committed to improving the perception of Nissan amongst influencers and opinion formers; and Emap’s magazine brands have enabled us to access them in a an impactful and credible way.”
