Classic FM Bags Sponsorship Deal With Dilmah Tea

GWR’s sales house Opus has secured a deal with Dilmah Tea to sponsor Classic FM’s breakfast show.

The deal, which is scheduled to start this week, will begin with a four-week sponsorship of the CD Of The Week feature. It will also be linked to a competition to win a years supply of tea and a tea-set, there will also be a grand draw to win a trip for two people to Sri Lanka.

The sponsorship will target tea drinkers having breakfast between 7am and 11am, while listening to Henry Kelly’s breakfast show

Commenting on the deal, Dilmah Tea’s chairman, Merrill J Fernando, said: “Classic FM is the perfect fit for Dilmah Tea. It will raise awareness of the Dilmah Tea brand to the large amount of Henry Kelly’s tea-drinking listeners at the perfect time of day.”

Last month Classic FM secured a £250,000 sponsorship deal for its weeknight news programme with Bank of Scotland’s Corporate Banking division (see Opus Secures £250,000 Sponsorship Of Classic FM). The station, which recently celebrated its tenth birthday, is also rumoured to be planning to launch a television station to compliment its record-label, magazine and credit card brands (see Classic FM Set To Extend Brand With TV Launch).
