BBC Magazines Secures Six Figure Deal With Suzuki

BBC Magazines has secured a six figure advertising deal with Suzuki through its recently formed Key Customer Group.

The deal, which runs throughout October, will include advertorials in Radio Times, Eve, Good Homes, Gardener’s World and Good Food magazine offering readers the chance to win a Mark Warner Holiday or one of 4,000 comedy DVDs from BBC Worldwide. It also includes an advertorial at radiotimes.com designed to drive traffic to Suzuki’s website.

The initial campaign will be supported by a two week promotion in Tesco stores giving anyone buying a BBC magazine the chance to win a Suzuki Jinny. Display models of the car will appear at a number of Tesco superstores, which will also feature point-of-sale promotions.

Commenting on the campaign, Matt Teeman, ad director for the Key Customer Group, said: “Pitching against other mediums we were able to deliver an exciting portfolio of magazines -including four magazines that have never carried Suzuki product advertising before – plus online and in-store activity.”

Andy Taylor, client media director for Media by Design, Suzuki’s media planning and buying agency, added: “BBC Magazines demonstrated not only a clear understanding of the supplied brief, they delivered solutions that embraced the Suzuki brand identity coupled with an innovative media approach.”

The BBC unveiled its centralised ad team earlier this year in an attempt to offer a “one stop shop” service for advertisers interested in cross media deals. The new has made use of research carried out by Naked, which revealed that readers of different BBC magazines have certain similar characteristics (see BBC Magazines Announces Centralised Ad Team).
