Opus Secures Cointreau Sponsorship Of Classic FM

GWR’s sales house Opus and Starcom Motive have secured Cointreau as the six-figure sponsor of Classic FM.

The deal includes includes on-air sponsorship, sponsorship of the Classic FM Live Concert, a classicfm.com online promotion and CD sponsorship of Classic FM magazine.

The on-air sponsorship will run from 9 October until January 2003 and around Fantasy Evening Concerts on Classic FM, broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays Cointreau will have sponsorship credits in the programme and also trial throughout the week.

The initial on-air activity will be supported by a week-long promotion within Henry Kelly’s, Jane Jones and Simon Bates’ shows. Online promotions will also run on classicfm.com, providing links to Cointreau’s website for information on specific bands.

Cointreau will sponsor the Classic FM live concert at the Albert Hall on 17 October, including branding and corporate hospitality. It will also sponsor the October issue of the Classic FM magazine’s CD covermount.

Commenting on the deal, Julian Rigamonti, Opus’ head of Classic FM sponsorship and promotions said: “Cointreau’s integrated sponsorship is an excellent example of how to achieve a completely through-the-line dialogue with Classic FM’s audience. This should accelerate the growth in both awareness and positive perceptions of Cointreau, amongst listeners.”

Last month Opus secured a deal with Dilmah Tea to sponsor Classic FM’s breakfast show. The deal includes a four-week sponsorship of the station’s CD Of The Week feature and is linked to a competition to win a years supply of tea (see Classic FM Bags Sponsorship Deal With Dilmah Tea).
