12Snap Promotes Cotton To Director Of Sales Role

Mobile marketing company, 12Snap, has bolstered its senior management team with the promotion of Matt Cotton to the role of director of sales.

Cotton will head up customer acquisition activities for the company and will lead a dedicated business development team. In his previous role as commercial director, Cotton helped to launch 12Snap’s media sales division (see 12Snap Creates Media Sales Division), prior to this he worked at News Corporation, Express Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers.

In a separate development, Francesca Bateman has been promoted to the role of director of client services and operations. Bateman, who takes up the new position with immediate effect, will be responsible for client and creative services, as well as operations and project management.

Commenting on the promotions, Michael Birkel, CEO of 12Snap, said: “Both Matt and Francesca have demonstrated the value of their contribution to our success. We look forward to supporting them as they help take the company forward.”

The latest figures from the Mobile Data Association show that the text messaging craze reached new heights during 2002, with almost 17 billion person to person text messages sent across the four UK GSM networks (see Text Messaging Hits A New High In 2002). This is good news for mobile marketing companies, which will soon be able to send audio and video-enabled ads via 3G (see Feature: Advertisers Gear Up For 3G).
