TalkSPORT Listeners To Wake Up With Rivals

TalkSPORT has secured Chrysalis-owned Rivals Digital Media as the six-figure sponsor of its Sunday Morning Sports Breakfast Show.

The deal begins this week and will see Rivals and its portfolio of sites mentioned in credits, trials and live reads on TalkSPORT for the next eight weeks. Rivals will use the airtime to promote its sporting and World Cup sites, which include Worldcuprivals.net and Worldcup365.com. TalkSPORT will also benefit from reciprocal marketing across Rivals network of sites.

Commenting on the deal, TalkSPORT’s marketing director, Calum Macaulay, said: “Rivals and TalkSPORT make perfect partners as we both appeal to young, upwardly mobile men who love their sport. It also comes at a perfect time, with the build up for the World Cup.”

Earlier in the week Wireless-owned TalkSPORT signed a sponsorship deal with Ginsters (see TalkSPORT In World Cup Deal With Ginsters) and in March the radio station secured the UK’s largest interactive betting service, Blue Square, as the sponsor of its special World Cup sports features (see TalkSPORT In World Cup Deal With Ginsters).

According to RAJAR data for the three months ending March 2002, TalkSPORT saw its weekly reach increase by 11.7% year on year to 2,416,000.
